Seasonal peak: how an AI voice agent absorbs Black Friday, end-of-year sales and back-to-school

Across 48 hours of Black Friday or week one of sale season, your call volume can multiply by 5. Here's how an AI voice agent holds without cracking — and what we prep one week ahead.

Every operator knows the fear of seasonal peak: the phone ringing 5x more, and nobody to pick up. An AI voice agent solves 80 % of the problem — if you've prepared it. Here's the procedure we follow at VocazAI.

Diagnostic — 1 week ahead#

  • Target volume: how many calls/day?
  • Peak hours: where in the day?
  • Dominant call type (order status, return, product info)?
  • Available human transfer capacity (how many on standby)?

Peak configuration#

The system prompt hardens: shorter answers, rarer human transfer (only on dispute), absolute priority to self-resolution. Scope narrows: drop exploratory questions, keep only transactional actions.

KPIs to monitor in real time#

  • p99 volume per 15 minutes: detect saturation.
  • p95 latency: if it drifts above 1 s, agent feels broken.
  • Transfer rate: should drop during peak, not climb.
  • Abandon rate: any abandon > 15 s is a lost call.

Fallback plan#

If quality drifts: 1) neutral waiting message ('let me check') buys 2 s of latency budget, 2) degraded modes that auto-transfer to human on any doubt, 3) redirect to a pre-recorded voice FAQ for repetitive questions.

After the peak#

You listen to 20 random calls. You spot 2-3 improvement patterns. You code them into the prompt before the next peak. Seasonality is recurring — each cycle improves the next.

Surge plan#

VocazAI offers a 'surge' mode: unlimited volume for 48-72 hours at +$300-$500. Absorbs an entire Black Friday without breaking. First peak free to measure value before signing.
