The closed-question rule#
A closed question = 2 to 4 possible answers, named in the question itself. Example: 'Is this for a booking, a quote, or something else?'. The caller picks. The agent understands at 99%. The flow branches correctly in under 5 seconds. It's the opposite of a text chatbot — voice doesn't tolerate ambiguity.

The 3 exceptions where open stays useful#
- First emergency sentence: 'Tell me what's happening' (toothache, vomiting pet, water damage).
- Customer complaint: let them speak 30 seconds before framing (emotional release).
- Deep qualification: 'Tell me about your project' after 3 closed filtering questions.
